I’m trying out WordPress for the first time and I’m feeling a little foolish I’ve never been this far into developing a WordPress site before. I am, at my heart, a fond adherent of developing with web native languages only (HTML/CSS/JS, and an application layer like PHP if you need something server-side). I’ve used ExpressionEngine, OmniUpdate, and Drupal to date, and I can tell you WordPress really has a sweet model.
Launch your site now
Add a theme like it is easy. Because it is.
Customize your templates? Sure thing.
We’re making it UI simple over here. It’s all mobile responsive and deliciously accessible right from the start:

Add Images to posts? Screen capture and paste works in the editor no problem if you know a little HTML:

Reusable blocks of content are stock standard too! Man, I’m going to enjoy having a web site and doing a tenth of the amount of work for the result. The power of the CMS structure here combined with an open HTML/CSS content widget means I can quickly pop whatever I need to wherever I want as needed.
There’s a lot of freedom to play with, and I’m looking forward to putting more web native content up here for a more engaging site.
